A true “Kiwi”, I was raised on a dairy farm just outside of New Zealand’s “Windy City”, aka Wellington before moving to Auckland, New Zealand - named "The City of Sails" because of its obsession with yachts and sailing. This was also home to the Americas Cup in 1995. It was a great place to live and I love to get back to New Zealand whenever possible and smell the fresh air, visit the great beaches and just soak up the beautiful scenery!
As with most New Zealanders, I was born with a love of travel and have lived in London and traveled "student style" to some offbeat places before finally moving to California’s Bay Area. We moved to Georgia in 1991 and have loved this as a great family-friendly place to raise our 3 kids, who are now off to college and medical school in Atlanta and Nashville.
Real estate has always appealed to me because it's real, tangible, and can represent a great asset for over the long term. And investing in your first house is a smart thing to do - as long as you allow yourself plenty of financial margin!
Since moving to Alpharetta, and as small business owners, we decided to invest in small office condos - occupying them and renting them out to some great tenants. Atlanta offers some great opportunities in this area, and it has become an area of concentration for my professional career. I’ve bought, leased, managed and sold many condos over the years, and also enjoy helping my clients find some great properties either to owner-occupy, or to lease out as an investment. We’ve also been involved as board members on a variety of condo association boards in North Fulton, so can understand the issues from all sides of the fence!
We've also been involved at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta since 2001 and have enjoyed their small group environments, along with some mission outreach trips to both the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Now attending Browns Bridge Church, in Forsyth County, a companion church to North Point.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, hiking in the woods, exploring new places – especially International travel, and any kayaking which is not too death-defying! I also love the beach and exploring new places, which is definitely the Kiwi wanderlust. I am very grateful for good health, terrific friends and family, and the opportunities which present themselves daily. Also very excited to have voted for the first time as a US citizen in the last elections!
